Baseball – Lakers Swept By Niagara In Final Regular Season Games

SANBORN, NY. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (17-27, 6-10 MSAC) finished their 2012 regular season campaign this afternoon by dropping a road doubleheader to the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves (30-20-1), 15-4 (game one) and 10-4 (game two). The Thunderwolves took the season series with the Lakers, winning three of their four contests against them. Finger Lakes one win against Niagara came in early April (4/9), when they split a home doubleheader with the Thunderwolves.

Game One Summary – Niagara's bats proved to be lethal in the opener, accounting for fifteen runs. The Lakers couldn't muster up much offense as the Thunderwolves pitching stood its own by keeping Finger Lakes potent lineup in check.

Lakers Game One Individual Highlights – Chris Fazio (Staten Island, NY) and Corey Galletta (Oswego, NY) each contributed two hits apiece for the Lakers in the losing effort.   

Game Two Summary – Niagara turned in yet again another solid offensive performance with their bats. The Thunderwolves pitching held the Lakers lineup in check for the second consecutive game by allowing just four runs.

Lakers Game Two Individual Highlights – Hector Mitaynes (Rochester, NY) registered three hits for Finger Lakes in the nightcap.

Anthony Gonzalez (Rochester, NY) added a pair of hits for the Lakers in the loss.
