JAMESTOWN, NY. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (2-10, 0-0 MSAC) split a road doubleheader this afternoon with the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks. The Jayhawks took game one, 10-2. The Lakers rebounded in game two with a 6-5 win. The game two victory took 11 innings for Finger Lakes to notch and was highlighted by the pitching effort of Dakota Stackhouse (Warsaw, NY). Stackhouse pitched 6 scoreless innings in relief to secure win.
In a losing effort in game one, the Lakers were highlighted by the bats of Justin Stowell (Horseheads, NY), Eddie Tagliareni (Mexico, NY), and Chris Fazio (Staten Island, NY). All three players registered two hits apiece.
Stackhouse's pitching performance in the game two victory was backed by Corey Cowen's (West Edmeston, NY) game winning run in the top of the eleventh inning. Along with his winning run, Cowen finished the game with a pair of hits. Fazio added another 2-hit attack in the win. He also tacked on 2 RBI's. Fazio now stands in fifth place in hitting in the nation* on the season.
Finger Lakes will now host Jamestown on Thursday (4/5) in an afternoon doubleheader. The first pitch of game one is slated to be thrown at 2:00 pm.
