CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Community College Department of Athletics is pleased to welcome Alyssa Presutti as the Lakers’ new Sports Information Director.
Presutti, who graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in communication (concentration in media and journalism), will promote the on-field accomplishments of FLCC’s 14 intercollegiate athletics teams, as well as the academic successes and community service contributions of the Lakers’ student-athletes.
In this role, Presutti will create press releases (season preview stories, game recaps, student-athlete profiles), with a goal of increasing coverage and awareness of FLCC athletics.
She will be responsible for updating and maintaining the athletics website, www.flccathletics.com, ensuring that schedules, team record books, and student-athlete and coach bios are up-to-date. Presutti will also be responsible for providing content to the athletic department’s social media channels.
“I'm most excited to start my professional career,” said Presutti, a Buffalo, N.Y. resident who grew up in nearby Geneva, N.Y.
“I’m really excited to be working in this field, and as a former student-athlete, I know how much it means for them to be recognized for what they're doing. I want to showcase our student-athletes and make them feel like what they're doing means something to our campus and to our community.”
Presutti will keep stats and run the online broadcasts of select home games for the department. She brings a strong ability to tell stories and a knack for shooting and editing video to FLCC, which will benefit the Lakers’ student-athletes, coaches, and athletic department.
“We are thrilled to have Alyssa join us as the next Sports Information Director at FLCC,” said Samantha Burmeister, FLCC’s Assistant Director of Athletics who will supervise Presutti in her new role.
“Alyssa’s previous SID experience at SUNY Geneseo will help her make an immediate impact on our student-athletes and coaches. We know she will excel in promoting our teams’ successes on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.”
While at Geneseo, Presutti, a four-year member of the softball team, interned for one year in SUNY Geneseo’s athletic communications office, creating game and season highlight videos for the Knights’ teams.
Presutti also created, shot, and edited Geneseo’s Athlete of the Week video series, which ran on the athletics website.
Presutti has spent the past year producing feature stories and game recaps for Sports Union Magazine, a publication in Hamburg, N.Y. that promotes the accomplishments of local teams and athletes.
“What I love the most about being a Sports Information Director is the fact that I get to work in sports. I get to go to our games and be completely invested in our athletics department while highlighting our student-athletes and coaches. My whole life has revolved around sports and I’m ecstatic to continue that path as our Sports Information Director.”
